The Language Project

The origins, evolution, and current usage of LGBTQ+ terminology.

LGBTQ+ Language Project

We create content about LGBTQ+ identity, history, and culture. The truth is, queer and trans people are Words, just like the people they describe, can be imperfect, incomplete, and complicated. They can be messy AF. But, when wielded correctly, they can also help us define ourselves, understand the world around us, and find our chosen family. VideoOut is working with the Google News Initiative and Polygraph to create this living resource of language that will grow as we add more terms. It’s more than a glossary — it’s an investigation of how we talk about LGBTQ+ people.
